The vestibule is the central part of bony labyrinth, and the utricle and saccule lie within it:
- The saccule lies in the spherical recess, located in the medial wall of the vestibule.
- The utricle lies behind and above it (posterosuperior) (in the elliptical recess of the medial wall of the vestibule).
